A hotel’s pet package might have a dog in every photograph. That tells you about the marketing, but not necessarily which animals the hotel accepts. If you are arranging a stay with your cat, look for an explicit mention of cats before choosing a room.
Whether the overnight stop is part of a holiday, a move or a visit to family, the useful details are the same: the right reservation, a clear price and confirmation of what the room includes.
Find a cat-specific answer
Search the property’s own pet-policy or package page for the word “cat”. If it is missing, contact the reservations team and ask directly. Include your dates and the number of cats in the first message so they can answer for the booking you actually want.
Two examples show what to look for. W Melbourne’s Pets Are Welcome package explicitly names cats and dogs, and requires pets to be booked in advance on that package. The Langham, Sydney’s Pampered Pets terms also refer specifically to cats. These are starting points for an enquiry, not a substitute for checking availability for your dates.
Confirm the room and the inclusions
Ask the hotel to attach your cat to the reservation and confirm the room category. Check whether the pet charge is already included in the package, and whether additional cleaning or a second pet changes the total.
Be specific about equipment. Does the room include a litter tray? Is litter supplied, or only the tray? What about bowls and bedding? W Melbourne lists a litter box among items available on loan through its pet package; that does not mean every hotel uses the same arrangement. Get the answer from your own host before packing.
Plan the stay, not just the night
A bedroom booking does not answer where you can spend the rest of the day. Ask about shared areas, housekeeping visits and the property’s policy on pets being left in rooms. The Langham’s published package terms, for example, say pets must not be left on their own.
That information belongs in your meal and outing plans. Ask about room service, takeaway arrangements and check-out timing instead of assuming you can leave for a long restaurant booking. For a holiday rental, direct the same questions to the host.
Keep one clear confirmation
Before paying, confirm the dates, room, number of cats, total price and agreed arrangements in writing. Save the arrival instructions and the number for the person who will meet you.
A useful confirmation should leave you knowing exactly what you have booked. Then you can pack for that stay, rather than for an imagined version of a pet-friendly room.
